About Me

Robert’s practice encompasses media and entertainment contract drafting and negotiating - ranging from creative, talent and production contracts in TV, film and theatre to investment and project structuring work. Robert has a strong interest in new media and has advised numerous start up internet companies in sectors ranging from eBooks to fashion. Robert also advises on rights infringement disputes for the creative industries and commercial and technology copyright based disputes.Robert founded the niche employment and media law firm Barclay Taylor in 2006 along with Nicki Barclay, prior to that he was called to the Bar in 2001 and cross qualified as a solicitor in 2006.

Prior to qualifying as a lawyer, Robert was a professional scriptwriter, writing numerous episodes of ChuckleVision and the sitcom ‘Out of Tune’. Robert also worked in partnership with Rory Clark on Farcical Films creating comedy shows and projects throughout the 90s.

Robert is currently the President of the Federation of Screenwriters in Europe and was formerly Chair of the Writers' Guild of Great Britain during which time he established the Writers' Digital Payments Limited and the Writers' Foundation (UK). 

Robert is currently advising Monty & Co an app based puppet TV series for pre-school kids
