Brilliant article on bank fraud - very much worth a read.
Couple of takeaways:
1. Even if you are a victim of fraud you can recover your funds especially if you act quickly. Call a fraud solicitor asap.
2. In this case the victim's Bank, Barclays, was shown to be slow off the mark in respect of some of the stolen funds. Fair play to Barclays they stumped up the stolen funds without delay thus avoiding dreadful PR - something a lot of Banks can learn from.
3. Understand that you do have legal options. This victim was a solicitor so he knew what to do. Even if time has passed, you will have options but the quicker you act the better.
4. Best defence is to be alert to the scams out there. Get familiar with this scam as it is proving more and more popular.
