On the face of it, you may be wondering what on earth has Tesla, with its super cutting edge cars, got to do with Adidas?
Well this article is a great reminder to all of us to keep a keen eye on trademark infringements.
It is so easy to get caught up with new designs and focus on branding, colour, texture, messaging - all highly important considerations there is no doubt about that. But just when you are about to pull the trigger you do need to ask the basic question: has anyone checked for any possible trademark infringements? Ideally, this should be a fundamental that is covered in the early stages.
Tesla made this error and at the last minute (it would seem) they were forced into a logo change for their brand new 3 series car.

The filing was submitted by Adidas, who argues that the three-bar format for the Model 3 is far too similar to the company’s old “3-stripes mark.” (see image).
